About the Chair
UNIVERSITY CHAIR "PROMO BIENESTAR"
How the Chair was born
This institutional alliance responds to the need to address, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the growing concern for the emotional well-being of adolescents and young people, promoting training, research and dissemination as fundamental pillars for building a more aware, inclusive and healthy society.
"Investing in the emotional well-being of youth is building a healthier, more resilient and inclusive future."
Purpose of the Chair
The main purpose of the Chair is to promote the mental health and well-being of young people, acting preventively against emotional difficulties and working to eradicate the stigma that still persists around mental health problems.
From an intersectoral, inclusive and evidence-based perspective, strategies are developed to strengthen resilience, address risk behaviours such as self-harm or suicide, and ensure that no young person is left behind, paying special attention to vulnerable groups such as people with low resilience, in a refugee or migration situation, with disabilities, or belonging to ethnic, linguistic, religious or affective-sexual minorities.
The Chair also seeks to be a space of reference for social innovation, generating synergies between the academic, institutional and professional worlds. Through training, research and knowledge transfer, it aims to bring about a real change in the way society understands, attends to and accompanies the emotional health of adolescents and young people, making prevention and emotional care an accessible right and a collective priority.
"Prevention, training and research are the keys to transforming the mental health of the new generations’"
